Coming soon. My next adventure will be in studying sehnsucht. Impossible to say and spell, this is what C.S. Lewis says of it: “For they are not the thing itself; they are only the scent of a flower we have not found, the echo of a tune we have not heard, news from a country we have never visited.” The Center for Sehnsucht Studies is the future container for Yvonne the militant researcher, Yvonne the death doula, Yvonne the movement chaplain, Yvonne the artful host, Yvonne the Buddhist minister, and Yvonne the historian of consciousness.
Solidarity Research Center
We are a worker self-directed nonprofit organization that builds solidarity economy ecosystems using data science, story-based strategy, and action research. We work at the intersection of racial justice and solidarity economies. We are committed to resisting and building, opposing and proposing, and to building a new world in the shell of the old. In addition to our social movement building work, we partner with community organizations, cooperatives, advocacy groups, worker centers, and labor unions to provide quantitative and qualitative research. Municipalism Learning Series
Municipalism Learning Series is a project of Solidarity Research Center. Our goals are to introduce radical municipalism to a broad audience in North America, and to connect municipalist organizers across places. We offer public panels introducing the theory and practice of radical municipalism. And, we launched a 12-week cohort fellowship last year, which brought together municipalist practitioners to develop strategy plans to win power in their place.
Los Angeles for All
We believe that the city of Los Angeles is ripe for building a new, cooperative ecosystem. An emergent landscape of economic and political alternatives is thriving alongside a robust movement for housing justice and tenant’s rights. Our project was launched on May Day 2022 with the understanding that in order for this vibrant community to withstand the multiple crises — ecological, political, and economic — we must come together to build directly democratic and inclusive alternatives. Thus, we have spent the last three years mapping out our landscape, building relationships and a new movement culture, and convening protagonists through the Los Angeles People’s Movement Assembly. Los Angeles for All is a project of Solidarity Research Center and is connected to the Los Angeles Rising Study Group and Los Angeles Land and Liberation project.
